Very early in this scammer's correspondence it is hinted that a computer would be a great help in being able to have better communication. Since Bill did not take the bait and offer to send money for a computer, the scammer cut to the chase and requested money to get a visa. This is a typical scam and can be a very expensive one. First money for the visa, then an expensive ticket, and of course travel money. Fortunately, Bill was advised by a friend that he was probably corresponding with a scammer.

Scammer Valery Zaitcew (Valery Zaytcew) from Ukraine, Kiev. First of all, in this scam were used hijacked photos of Russian pop star Larisa Chernikova, second - Valery Zaitcew is a man's name. In FSU women's surnames never end on 'v' or 'w'. Woman's version of this name would sound Valerya Zaitcewa. It started with money for apartment rent to stay with man who was going to visit, but them this money was spent to some other purpose and suddenly comes the opportunity to get student visa and now money needed for travel expenses.
